Srinagar, May 08 (KNO): In a remarkable display of solidarity and community spirit, the blood donors of Sopore came together and organized a blood donation camp.
Hosted by the blood donors of Sopore in association with GMC Baramulla and SDH Sopore, the event witnessed an overwhelming response from volunteers eager to contribute to the noble cause.
The blood donation drive aimed to address the ongoing shortage of blood supplies in the region's hospitals.
According to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Shareef Ahmad, one of the organizers, expressed gratitude for the enthusiastic turnout, emphasizing the critical role of such initiatives in saving lives.
“I'm truly inspired by the selflessness displayed by the people of Sopore," he remarked. "Their willingness to donate blood will undoubtedly make a significant difference in our ability to provide timely medical care to those in need."
Volunteers from various age groups and backgrounds including women queued up throughout the day, demonstrating unwavering support for the cause.
Gh Rasool hailed the event as a testament to the community's resilience and compassion, said, "It's heartening to see everyone coming together for this noble cause."
"In times of need, it's our duty to support each other, and today, Sopore has truly shown its heart."
Local authorities praised the organizers for their proactive efforts in addressing the blood shortage, highlighting the importance of community-driven initiatives in supplementing government healthcare services.
The residents of Sopore and the adjoining areas voluntarily donated 154 blood units.
Different teams of Doctors and Paramedics from GMC Baramulla and SDH Sopore provided all the support required for blood donation activities and the administration of Darul ul uloom Mahrajpora provided the space for the event.
Light refreshment was also offered to donors for their well being by Jibran Khan (Founder & CEO Zero Miles - Grill & Cafe).
Meanwhile, the guests of the event were ADC sopore and Tehsildar sopore.
